909,000 work days are lost every year to manual handling injuries
There were 169,000 muscoskeletal injuries in 2014/15
It is a legal requirement for employers to provide a manual handling training course to their workforce. This course is designed to look at the most common cause of manual handling injuries, why they happen and how to avoid them. In particular it focuses on these key areas:
- Understanding lifting techniques
- How bad lifting causes injury
- Understanding spinal injuries like slipped discs and how to prevent them
- Learning how to lift safely
As far as possible the course tries to focus on lifting tools and equipment which is relevant to the line of work of all attendees. In this way it provides practical, useful advice and guidance alongside the assessment.
Successful delegates will receive a Hireman accredited certificate, valid for 5 years.
Where is it?
At our central London depot. Directions are available here.
We can also provide many of our courses on site. Please contact us for more information.

What do I need to bring?

How is it assessed?
Knowledge is assessed through a multiple choice test paper and a practical assessment on safe lifting techniques.
