There are 150,000 unnecessary deaths every year due to lack of first aid knowledge
This CIEH accredited Emergency First Aid at Work course is designed to provide the basic knowledge and skills to administer first aid and deal with casualties in a low-risk environment.
The course deals with a wide range of subjects, including:
- The roles and responsibilities of a first-aider
- How to report incidents
- Assessing incidents
- Conducting a primary survey
- Treating unconscious or non-breathing casualties
In addition it covers how first-aiders should manage injuries like choking, bleeding and shock.
This course doesn’t cover the use of AEDs, but we offer a specific course in AEDs which you can read more about here.
The Hireman also offers a more extensive three-day course for higher risk workplaces. That course addresses more serious injuries in more detail and is available on request.
A three-year qualification will be issued to successful delegates. It is recommended that all delegates take an annual refresher course, though this is not mandatory.
