Over 1600 electrical cables are struck every year
This half-day CAT and Genny course focuses on a couple of main issues:
- How to use the CAT and its different modes
- How, when and why to use the generator
The course begins by helping you understand the theory of both the CAT and Genny and how they work in practice. It deals with the different modes available and when to use each. The practical part of the course will see a task set outside involving assessing the risks of the surrounding area and using the different tools to establish best practice.
A full-day course is available on request. This more extensive course covers three main areas: planning, locating and excavating, in addition to CAT theory and practical use.
Successful delegates will receive a Hireman certificate valid for up to three years.
Where is it?
At our central London depot. Directions are available here.
We can also provide many of our courses on site. Please contact us for more information.
When is it?
Our CAT and Genny courses usually take place on the first Friday of each month. We ask that all delegates arrive promptly at 8:30am so that we can start on time. As with all our courses, we can offer the course at a time better suited to your needs if necessary. Please contact us for more.
How many people?
Our training centre can accommodate up to 12 people on each course.
What do I need to bring?
For the CAT and Genny course it can often be useful to bring your own CAT and generator so your practical work is done with the equipment you would normally use. We will provide equipment, but in terms of getting relevant experience using the right tools, we recommend bringing your own.
All delegates must also wear appropriate clothing, including a high-viz vest or jacket for the outside practical part of the course.
How is it assessed?
A practical assessment will be carried out at the end of the course.
How much does it cost?
1-2 delegates: £125pp
